Bilateral Relations

African Union (AU)

South African Development Community (SADC)
It is an honour to welcome you to the website of the South African High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria.

Since the formalisation of diplomatic relations in 1994, and the establishment of the South Africa – Nigeria Bi-National Commission in 1999, major progress has been made in the South Africa – Nigeria relations.

South Africa regards Nigeria as a strategic partner in the context of bilateral relations, the West Africa region, and the continent in the pursuance of the African Agenda, South – South cooperation and in the promotion of a rules-based International System. The two countries share a common vision on issues of political and economic integration in Africa.

Due to the political, ideological and social similarities, people-to-people and business relations have grown from strength-to-strength over the years. Today, you will find a large and successful Nigerian population living and working in South Africa, and you will also find the presence of South Africans in Nigeria.

In conclusion, whether you are a South African citizen in need of assistance or information from the High Commission, or whether you are a friend of South Africa in search of information for your next holiday or business trip, I trust that this website and related links would assist you accordingly.

Kind regards

Mr J Moroe
