Two South African Tourism companies, Southern Africa 360 Luxury Holidays and OKNO African Tours, participated and made presentations through Skype.

Two airlines, Etihad and FlyDubai, also participated in the roundtable by making presentations of their flight options from Kazakhstan to South Africa. All presentations were extremely well received.

HE Talgat Kaliyev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of South Africa has also joined the roundtable through Skype and expressed his gratitude to participants.

The Kazakhstan Tourist Association worked with the Mission to select and invite tour operators to the Tourism Roundtable.
The purpose of hosting the tourism roundtable was to promote South Africa as travel destination and enhance awareness of travel agents of Almaty on business and training opportunities available by marketing South Africa to Kazakh travellers.

There is a good potential for increasing numbers of tourists from Kazakhstan into South Africa, however, an extra effort needs to be applied to break the perception that it is extremely difficult to get to South Africa and build knowledge on the range of opportunities offered by the country.

Every year on 18 July, Nelson Mandela’s birthday, the world celebrates International Nelson Mandela Day.

During 2009, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared Nelson Mandela’s birthday, as a day on which individuals are asked to dedicate 67 minutes of their personal time to community service.

The 67 minutes represent the 67 years Nelson Mandela gave of his life in service to humankind.
