The following information is required in order to apply for a study visa at a learning institution in South Africa:
  1. Application to be submitted in person by the applicant
  2. Duly completed and personally signed application form (DHA-1738)
  3. 1 recent EU passport photo
  4. Original passport valid for no less than 30 days after the expiry of the intended visit and containing at least 3 unused pages for endorsements.
  5. Payment of the prescribed fee DKK430.00 with bank transfer.
  6. Yellow fever vaccination certificate, if the person travelled or intends traveling from or through a yellow fever endemic area: Provided that the certificate shall not be required where that person travelled or intends traveling in direct transit through such area or where an application is made in the Republic
  7. Proof of medical cover renewed annually for the period of study with a medical scheme registered in terms of the Medical Schemes Act
  8. An undertaking by the parents or legal guardian that the learner will have medical cover for the full duration of the period of study
  9. Proof of sufficient financial means available to the learner whilst residence in the Republic (R3 000 per month to be available)
  10. In case of sojourn not exceeding 12 months, submission of proof of a valid return air ticket
  11. Police clearance certificate for all applicants 18 years and older from each country where person stayed for period longer that 12 months.
  12. Medical and Radiological reports
  13. Marriage certificate or proof of partnership (if applicable)
  14. An official letter from the relevant institution* confirming provisional acceptance at the institution and the duration of the course; and

    1. An undertaking by the Registrar or Principal of the learning institution to provide proof of Registration, as contemplated in the relevant legislation within 60 days of registration; or
    2. In the event of failure to register by the closing date, provide the Director-General that the applicant is no longer registered with such institution; and
    3. Within 30 days of completion of studies, notify the Director-General when the applicant has completed his/her studies or requires extending such period of study.

    * A learning institution must be registered in terms of the South African Schools Act, 1996 (Act 84 of 1996), the Higher Education Act, 1997 (Act 101 of 1997) or the Further Education and Training Colleges Act, 2006 (Act 16 of 2006)

  15. In case of a learner under the age of 18 years –

    1. Copy of birth certificate of child
    2. A copy of his or her identity document (if applicable)
    3. Proof of physical address and contact number of the adult person residing in the Republic, who is acting or has accepted to act as such learner’s guardian, including a confirmatory letter from that guardian; and
    4. Proof of consent for the intended stay from both parents or, where applicable, from the parent or legal guardian who has been issued with a court order granting full or specific parental responsibilities and rights or legal guardianship of the learner;
  16. In the case of a foreign state accepting responsibility for the applicant in terms of a bilateral agreement, a written undertaking in respect of the departure of the applicant
  17. Proof of valid residential permit if applicable
  18. Any additional documents/information as required by the Mission e.g. proof of accommodation in South Africa
