VISITOR’S VISA AND INFORMATION
 
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON OBTAINING A VISITOR’S VISA FOR THE RSA (FOR A VISIT NOT LONGER THAN 3 MONTHS)
 
ALL DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED MUST BE IN ENGLISH OR OFFICALLY TRANSLATED INTO ONE OF THE OFFICIAL LANGAUGES OF THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA
 
The following documents to be submitted when applying for a visitor’s visa
  1. Application to be submitted in person by the applicant
  2. A duly completed and personally signed visa application form (DHA-84)
  3. 2 recent EU passport photos
  4. Original passport valid for no less than 30 days after expiry of the intended visit and containing at least three (3) blank pages for endorsements.
  5. Payment of the prescribed fee (if applicable) DKK430.00 via bank transfer (visa fees are not levied for diplomatic and official passport holders).
  6. Yellow fever vaccination certificate, if that person travelled or intends traveling from or through a yellow fever endemic area: Provided that the certificate shall not be required where that person travelled or intends traveling in direct transit through such area or where an application is made in the Republic;
  7. Proof of financial means (minimum of R3000 available) in the form of either;
    1. - Recently bank certified statements for last 3 months (copy of credit card is not acceptable), or
      - Travelers cheques (minimum of R3000 available), or
      - undertaking(s) by the host(s) in the RSA that he/she will be hosting the applicant and accepting responsibility for the costs related to the maintenance and removal of the applicant from the Republic, (with copy of Identity Document/SA passport or residence permit together with copy of salary advice or bank statement );

  8. Applicants traveling by air must be in possession of a return or onward ticket (provisional booking)
  9. Statement and/or documentation detailing the purpose and duration of the visit e.g. for holiday, sport, conferences, business etc.
  10. Where the application is for the attendance of an activity or event, include a letter from the organization under whose control the activity or event will take place, confirming such attendance and whether or not the foreigner will be remunerated, and if remunerated, the amount of the remuneration.
  11. Invitation from SA citizen/resident with copy of ID or residence permit/ or Hotel accommodation
  12. Birth certificate of children under the age of 18 must be submitted with application to proof parenthood.

  13. Take note: Where parents are travelling with a child under the age of 18 years, such parents must produce an unabridged birth certificate of the child reflecting the particulars of the parents of the child. In case of one parent travelling with a child, he or she must produce an unabridged birth certificate and –

    1. Consent in the form of an affidavit from the other parent registered as a parent on the birth certificate of the child authorising him or her to enter into or depart from the Republic with the child he or she is travelling with;
    2. A court order granting full parental responsibilities and rights or legal guardianship in respect of the child, if he or she is the parent or legal guardian of the child; or
    3. Where applicable, a death certificate of the other parent registered as a parent of the child on the birth certificate;

    Provided the Director General of Home Affairs may, where the parents of the child are both deceased and the child is travelling with a relative or another person related to him or her or his or her parents approve such a person to enter into or depart from the Republic with such a child.
    Where a person is travelling with a child who is not his or her biological child, he or she must produce –

    1. A copy of the unabridged birth certificate of the child;
    2. An affidavit from the parents or legal guardian of the child confirming that he or she has permission to travel with the child;
    3. Copies of the identity documents or passports of the parents or legal guardian of the child; and
    4. The contact details of the parents or legal guardian of the child

    Any unaccompanied minor shall produce to the immigration officer –

    1. Proof of consent from one of or both his or her parents or legal guardian, as the case may be, in the form of a letter or affidavit for the child to travel into or depart from the Republic: Provided that in the case where one parent provides proof of consent, that parent must also provide a copy of a court order issued to him or her in terms of which he or she has been granted full parental responsibilities and rights in respect of the child;
    2. A letter from the person who is to receive the child in the Republic, containing his or her residential address and contact details in the Republic where the child will be residing;
    3. A copy of the identity document or valid passport and visa or permanent residence permit of the person who is to receive the child in the Republic; and
    4. The contact details of the parents or legal guardian of the child.

  14. Additional document/information could further be required by the Mission if applicable i.e. medical cover, copy of residence permit for Denmark/Lithuania etc.
  15. Should a multiple entry visa be required a signed motivation must be included in the application.

AUTHORISATION TO WORK, SECTION 11.2 (montage/sport participants/internship/practical/journalists)
 
SECTION 11(2) AUTHORISATIONS TO WORK ON A VISITOR’S VISA IN SOUTH AFRICA
 
Please be advised that all applications for Section 11(2) authorisations to work on a visitor’s visa will be in the form of an application for a visitor’s visa. This application will be processed and once approved a visa will be affixed into the passport of the applicant. This is irrespective whether the passport holder is visa exempted or not.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY APPLICANT ISSUED WITH A SECTION 11(2) AUSTHORISATION LETTER AND WHO HAS NOT LEFT FOR SOUTH AFRICA YET SHOULD URGENTLY APPROACH THE EMBASSY IN PERSON IN ORDER TO APPLY FOR THE SAID VISA!

For a period of less than 90 days any person wishing to conduct working activity in South Africa must be in possession of the correct authorisation to do so. In this regard the company in South Africa or abroad needs to contact the nearest South African Foreign Mission (the applicant(s) can also contact the foreign Mission directly) where the applicants are resident in order to work (montage/sport/internship (in line with studies)/practical (in line with studies)/journalists/bands) in South Africa, thus your entry is not for holiday purposes. Kindly note that in terms of Regulation 9(2) of the Immigration Act, Act 13 of 2002, each passport holder has to submit the application in person including children (as of 01.07.2014 all applications must be submitted in person!!). The application should be submitted in person during business hours Monday – Friday 09:00 – 12:00. The following documents need to be submitted:
  • Duly completed application form (DHA-84)
  • Two EU passport photos together with a valid passport containing at least 3 blank pages
  • Bank statements for the last three months in respect of the applicant (not the company!)
  • Fee of DKK430.00 via bank transfer.
  • the letter from the South African (host) company or institution, refer specifically to an application for authorisation to conduct work on a visitor’s permit in terms of section 11(2) and include the following information:
  1. Applicant’s full name and date of birth.
  2. Applicant’s nationality and passport number.
  3. Purpose or necessity of the work;
  4. Nature of the work;
  5. Qualification and skills required for the work;
  6. Duration of the work;
  7. Place of work;
  8. Duration of the visit;
  9. Proof of remuneration or stipend that the foreigner will receive from the employer; and
  10. Identity and contact details of the prospective employer or relevant contact person from the host institution;
  11. Port of Entry through which the applicant will enter the Republic of South Africa.
  12. Background / bona fides of the South African (host) company or institution.
  13. Statement that the applicant will strictly conduct only the specific work related activity contained in the letter and will neither compete for other work in the Republic of South Africa during the stay nor seek to extend the work beyond the specific period requested.
  14. The applicant’s contact details and residential e.g. hotel address during his or her stay in the Republic of South Africa
  15. Any other information as required by the Mission to complete the application including, where applicable, request recommendation from any relevant organ of state and may request proof of residence status for non-Danish nationals.
    -a signed and dated letter on letterhead of the applicant’s company abroad (e.g. from country of origin), confirming the applicant’s particulars (full name, date of birth, nationality and passport number), occupation / position at the company or institution abroad, the purpose or necessity and duration (starting and ending dates) of the applicant’s visit to the Republic of South Africa and proof (details) of remuneration or stipend that the foreigner will receive for the work conducted in the Republic;
    -valid air flight ticket or flight confirmation;
