Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has Arrived in New Delhi, India

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has arrived in New Delhi, India following her attendance together with President Mbeki at the African Union (AU) Extraoardinary Assembly Session on Agriculture and Water and a Common African Defence and Security Policy in Sirte, Libya from Friday, 27 - Saturday, 28 February 2004.

While in India, Minister Dlamini Zuma will participate in a Conference of South African Ambassadors and High Commissioners based in Asia from Monday, 1 - Tuesday, 2 March 2004.

Following this, Minister Dlamini Zuma will together with her counterparts from India and Brazil, Ministers Yashwant Sinha and Dr Celso Luiz Nunes Amorim co-chair the India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Dialogue Trilateral Ministerial Forum from Thursday, 4 - Friday, 5 March 2004.

At the first meeting of Ministers Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma,Yashwant Sinha and Dr Celso Luiz Nunes Amorim on 6 June 2003 in Brasilia, Brazil, the Brasilia Declaration, outlining areas of co-operation between the respective countries was announced

The IBSA Forum was formally launched by Presidents Thabo Mbeki, Lula da Silva and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the parameters of the 58th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 58) in New York in September 2003. During this meeting it was stressed that trilateral co-operation should focus on key areas that would yield results in the short to medium term. It was also agreed that the three countries would identify best practices that should be showcased as examples to other developing countries.

Ministers Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma,Yashwant Sinha and Dr Celso Luiz Nunes Amorim will at the meeting from 4-5 March 2004, discuss areas of trilateral co-operation as outlined in the historic Brasilia Declaration. In this regard trilateral co-operation projects in inter alia the fields of science and technology, health, transport, tourism, trade and investment, infrastructure, and job creation and SMME's will be identified during the meeting.
