Minister Dlamini Zuma to present Report on the Sudan to the
International Donor Conference in Oslo, Norway, 11 - 12 April 2005
The South African Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will,
today Monday 11 April 2005, present a report on the reconstruction and development
requirements of the Sudan to the International Donor Conference on the Sudan scheduled
for Monday and Tuesday 11-12 April 2005 in Oslo Norway.
Zuma is leading an 8-member delegation of the African Union Ministerial Committee
on the Reconstruction and Development of the Sudan, comprising Foreign Ministers
of Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Kenya, Nigeria and Sudan.
Donor conference is attended by representatives of the African Union (Alpha Konare),
the United Nations (Kofi Annan), the World Bank, IGAD, the European Union, the
Arab League, the United States of America, the United Kingdom and the Joint National
Transitional Team of Sudan (composed of leaders of the Government of Sudan and
the Leadership of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement).
Zuma will present a report to the International Donor Conference on the factual
situation in the Sudan and make recommendations about the necessary interventions
whilst assisting in the process of identifying the role of international donor
partners in the reconstruction and development of the Sudan.
Dlamini Zuma will return to South Africa on Wednesday 13 April 2005 ahead of her
budget vote speech, scheduled for Friday 15 April 2005 in Parliament, Cape Town.
