Government is aware of the contents of the UN special envoy's report.
The Government is in agreement with the report that some intervention is needed
to alleviate the plight of the people who have been critically affected by the
evictions, as a result, the Government of South Africa is either directly and/or
indirectly involved in a number of relief efforts aimed at supplying food, blankets
and tents to people who have been rendered homeless by the demolitions.
South Africa cannot dictate to Zimbabwe how it should implement its laws regarding
the demolition of illegal dwellings.
