President Zuma congratulates the Government and people of Angola following successful elections

Following the announcement on Friday, 07 September 2012, of the final election results in the Republic of Angola, His Excellency President Jacob Zuma has congratulated his Angolan counterpart, His Excellency President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, the government and the people of Angola for a successful, free and fair election.

President Zuma said: "The Government of the Republic of South Africa wishes to reaffirm its desire to further enhance our relations with the Government of the Republic of Angola. We look foward to continuing the fruitful collaboration between our two countries."

President Zuma added that South Africa looks foward to working with the government and the people of Angola "with strong emphasis on regional economic integration." South Africa and Angola are member-states of the 15-nation Southern African Development Community (SADC).
