Closing Remarks by International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane on the occasion of the 1st Session of the Ministerial Meeting of the Angola-DRC-South Africa Tripartite Mechanism on Dialogue and Cooperation, Kinshasa, 28 October 2013

Co-Chairs, Hon. Minister Tshibanda and Hon Minister Chikoti,

Honourable Ministers here present;

Senior Officials from our three countries,

Ladies and gentlemen,

We have come to the conclusion of the 1st Session of the Ministerial Meeting of the Tripartite Mechanism on Dialogue and Cooperation. Considering that this is our first meeting, I am happy with outcome of our meeting. We made critical decisions with regards to the implementation of this important tripartite mechanism.

We have re-dedicated ourselves to make this unique Mechanism a success consistent with the directives of our Heads of State. We have agreed to work towards the operationalization of the Permanent Secretariat and we have committed ourselves to speed up the ratification process of the MoU on Tripartite Mechanism.

Ladies and gentlemen,

We have also identified areas of cooperation in all four Commissions. In this regard, we are now required to implement all the identified projects.

Honourable Ministers,

I also wish reiterate the proposal we made this morning that each Department or Ministry should appoint at least two (2) officials who will serve as nodal points to ensure easy communication and follow-up with the Foreign Ministries and the Permanent Secretariat.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I wish to take this opportunity to thank our senior officials for producing a comprehensive and quality report.

Honourable Minister Tshibanda, please allow me to once again thank you and Your Government for the hospitality and warm that have been extended to our delegation.

I thank you
