ACP Group

The ACP Group of States is an organisation of developing states who have been left out of the core of economic participation globally. The group is made up of 79 states who meet regularly in order to discuss issues of global developmental importance.

As can be seen from the map, the ACP is largely made up of African states, and then a number of small island states included. All these states are considered as equals within the ACP, allowing for a broad based developmental agenda being set in order to improve the levels of development of all member states.

Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)
The Non-Aligned Movement is comprised of a number of states which are also members of the ACP Group as can be seen by comparing the two maps. This means that South-South Co-ordination can be strengthened through common memberships and dialogues. This is central to South Africa’s foreign policy.
G77 Countries
As you can see from the list on the side a total of 58 ACP countries are also members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and 72 countries are also members of the G77. With an aim to driving the agenda of the South, this allows countries in the ACP the ability to link up with other countries in the South. This is even more important for the countries on the list who are not members of the G77 or NAM as the ACP affords them the ability to communicate at official meetings with the countries who are members of the various other organisations.
