Showcasing South African Cuisine and Promoting Rhino Protection Awareness at The International Food Festival.

On 08 March 2014, the South African Embassy participated in an International Food Festival organised by the Vietnam Service Department for Diplomatic Corps (SDDC) on the occasion of its 50th Year anniversary.

The purpose of the event was to introduce cuisines, exchange cultures and strengthen friendship and solidarity among different countries. The charity contribution from the participants was donated to a Charity Programme “Com Co Thit” (Rice with Meat) to support poor children in the North area of Vietnam.  The event attracted the interest and participation of many Embassies in Hanoi as well as international and local communities.

In the spirit of solidarity and humanity, the South African Embassy participated in the event, introduced the country’s cuisine and launched awareness of Rhino Protection to local and international friends. The posters of Rhinos, booklets and stories on Rhino protection attracted visitors’ interest, especially from children.
The Embassy showcased South African wines, South African dishes, Vetkoek, curry mince and chakalaka.

The event was successfully concluded and the Embassy contributed VND 8 million to the Charity Fund to support poor children.
