Advertisement for Messenger/Driver vacant post in Defence Section

The Defence Section of the South African Embassy seeks to fill a position of Messenger/Driver as soon as possible.  The job description of the post is described as follows:

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Possession of a valid local driver's license;
A minimum of 7 years schooling plus 1 year relevant experience. Computer literacy, fluency in English and Spanish and ability to work in a multicultural and dynamic environment.


Minimum salary €19 587 – Maximum salary €31 741 per annum on level 2 (LRP2)

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The candidate will be expected to:

  • Drive the Defence Attache to her official appointments and perform other messenger duties;
  • Assist with the mission’s administrative duties;
  • Perform chauffeur duties in absence of the chauffeur;
  • Perform receptionist duties in absence of the receptionist;
  • Expected to work overtime when necessary;
  • Should have sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure;
  • Ability to observe and follow protocol and security procedures;

Period of Employment:

The appointment would be on 12 months contractual basis subject to renewal.

The successful applicant will assume duty as soon as possible and the appointment is subject to security and medical clearance as well as reference checking.
